What you'll do
Backend Development: Develop, maintain, and optimize server-side applications using Python and Django. Ensure backend services are scalable, reliable, and high-performing. Build clean, reusable, and maintainable code following best practices. API Design & Integration: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs to support web and mobile applications. Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing features with backend services. Ensure smooth data flow, API performance, and proper error handling. Database Design & Optimization: Design, implement, and maintain relational databases using SQL. Optimize database queries, indexing, and schema design for performance and reliability. Manage database migrations while maintaining data integrity. Code Quality & Testing: Write unit and integration tests to ensure application stability. Debug issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards. Security & Performance: Apply backend security best practices to protect applications and data. Prevent common vulnerabilities such as SQL injection and insecure API access. Identify performance bottlenecks and propose optimization solutions. Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions. Document system architecture, APIs, processes, and development guidelines. Contribute to improving team workflows, tools, and engineering practices. Continuous Learning Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Python, Django, backend development, and related technologies.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 2+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer or in a similar role. Strong hands-on experience with Python and Django REST Framework. Strong understanding of database design, SQL optimization, indexing, and query performance. Solid problem-solving skills with a good foundation in data structures and algorithms. Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs. Proficiency with version control systems, especially Git. Experience with unit testing, debugging, and performance optimization. Familiarity with frontend technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience with React is a plus. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Excellent written and spoken English. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment. Nice to Have: ECPC finalist or similar competitive programming experience. Experience with AI, machine learning, or data-driven platforms. Experience with cloud services, Docker, or CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with system design and scalable backend architecture.
